Pastor
Nathaniel L. Thomas

Pastor Nathaniel L. Thomas acknowledged his call into the ministry in 1997 and received
his ministry license from the late Bishop Angelo C. Davis. He went on to receive pastoral training under the late Dr. Thurman J. Twitty (Faith Fellowship Community Baptist
Church) in Portsmouth, Virginia. Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he served as
youth minister. He received further certification at the Faith Bible Institute and
Evangelical Training Association in Wheaton, Illinois. In 2015, he received a master’s
degree in Theology and Biblical Studies from the North Carolina College of Theology.


Pastor Thomas began his pastoral tenure at Union Branch Baptist Church in Corapeake,
NC in September 2004. Union Branch Baptist Church is a founding member of the regional Fellowship Circle, consisting of seven churches that collaborate quarterly.

In 2011, the ministry expanded to Hampton Roads, VA where two additional worship
centers were founded: Greater Faith Worship Center (GFWC) in Suffolk, followed by
Greater Faith Hampton in 2019. 

In 2022, Pastor Thomas answered the call to pastor his father’s church, Emmanuel Church (Greater Emmanuel), in Hampton, VA.

A retired automotive technician by trade, he has an Automotive Service Excellence
(ASE) Master Auto Technician certification and license. In addition to being a full-time
pastor, he is a member of the Gates County Planning and Zoning Board. 

Pastor Thomas was raised in Portsmouth, VA currently resides in Corapeake, NC with his wife of over 35 years, Lady Laura D. Thomas. They have two adult children, Christina (Brinton) and Nateson (Tomorah), and two grandchildren.

Lady Laura Thomas

Lady Laura D. Thomas is a graduate of Old Dominion University, where she
received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her career experiences include working for QVC Network, H&R Block, and Target Warehouse. Her love for Jesus Christ and logistical management skills have prepared her well for the role of being a pastor’s wife.

She feels that God has groomed her for to be the Wife of one of the hardest working man in ministry, and she enjoys Kingdom Building.
In the ministry, she has a passion to study and learn from the Scriptures primarily to bring understanding and depth to other Christians as she teaches God’s Word. She loves to plan, build and work with her hands, especially with gardening and artwork. 

 

She loves using the skills that God has provided her with to contribute to GFM missions across the northeastern North Carolina and Hampton Roads, Virginia communities.


My simple Bio would just say, “I Love God! He is Amazing!”

Lady Laura is a native of Chesapeake, VA. She is the daughter of the late Roy Demby and Jean (Melton) Demby and has an amazing group of siblings. In addition to being a devoted wife, she is a mom
of two adult children, Christina (Brinton) and Nateson (Tomorah), and two grandchildren.

Our Work

After seeing a need in the community, Greater Faith Ministries (GFM) was founded on August 8, 2008, by Nathaniel L. Thomas to empower people who have been torn spiritually and physically. Since its birth, we have been proud of the opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ through various faith-based outreach events.

"Women Know Thy Worth"
2013-Present

Mission: To empower and equip women physically, mentally, and spiritually with knowledge as they grow and prosper: valuing their worth and knowing their place with God.

Work: Annual Empowerment Conferences, College Scholarships, Women’s Ministry, Book Club

HIV/AIDS Educational Seminar
2008-Present

Mission: To educate the community about HIV/AIDS prevention, and how it affects our community.

Work: Annual participant in the National Week of Prayer for the healing of AIDS, hosts educational seminars and provide free confidential testing. 

Prison Ministry
2008-Present

Mission: To take the Gospel and words of encouragement to those incarcerated. 

Work: Visits to the prisons and bringing their letters and prayer requests before God with the saints during worship service. 

Housing Ministry
2014-Present

Mission: To assist members with becoming home owners. 

Work: Propery owners assist with reasonable rent-to-own arrangements with qualified and faithful candidates. 

Nursing Home Minstry
2004-Present

Mission: To Honor our elders and visit the sick and shut-in.

Work: Visits with gifts, songs, and encouraging words.  

The Ministry Store
2022-Present

Mission: To provide an affordable option for necessary household and clothing items. 

Work: The Ministry Thrift Store serves a rural community in Sunbury, NC.
